Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 and professionally referred to under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female signing for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Dreamville Records released her debut album titled Pho in the month of October 2016, and she was able to get recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The album was released in May of 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music to the internet in 2012 after she released her Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The singer continued uploading her music online in 2014 and released her own single Bound. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes in the song Sweat It Out. The following year, her music began to circulate throughout the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some possible references for Rihanna. The 8th of December was the day she revealed that she had officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat is a track that she sang alongside Cozz on her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. On October 21, 2016 her debut EP was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change, and she performed on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as the opening artist. The year 2018 saw Ari Lennox guested on two tracks by EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, and Bas, on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. A music video was later released in September. On the 9th November the singer released two more singles, titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Two additional singles were also released on the 11th of November with the titles Pedigree and One. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby then made an appearance as a guest on Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She dropped this single in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. This track, which was launched with a music video uploaded to YouTube February 20, 2019 has been watched over three million times over the first seven days. In December of 2018 she performed on her From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
